Where they lead

Where T-IA Connect is ahead today

  • Breadth of operations

393 MCP tools and a documented REST API cover many object-level operations TIATool has no dedicated tool for yet. When no tool fits, TIATool can script the Openness API.

  • TIA Portal V17, V18 and V20

Officially supported there. TIATool builds for these versions, but has not verified them on real projects.

  • A REST API

If you want to call TIA Portal from your own software over HTTP endpoints, T-IA Connect offers that. TIATool speaks MCP and has a command line.

  • CODESYS

Supported there. TIATool is for Siemens TIA Portal only.

  • Built-in chat

If your team has no AI client yet, an assistant inside the application is one less thing to set up. TIATool needs an MCP client such as Claude or Cursor.

  • An editor extension

A VS Code extension is published in the Visual Studio Marketplace.[9] TIATool registers itself as an MCP server in VS Code instead.

Our focus

What TIATool is built around

  • Offline understanding

The whole project is scanned into a local cache once. Who writes or reads a tag, the call graph, search, diff and audit answer in seconds, with TIA Portal closed.

  • Verify-first writes

Backup before every write, the verify gate against your baseline afterwards, a journal of every change, and your approval in the AI client.

  • What you can check

The tool list, the prices and the install steps are generated from the product. The assistant says when a call cannot be done on your project.

  • Equipment model

Describe the plant once; templates generate PLC code, HMI, alarms, tests and docs that agree with each other.

  • Field knowledge base

Verbatim error texts with causes and proven fixes, wired into every error path.

  • Buying and privacy

A paid seat, one PC. Offline licence files on yearly plans. No telemetry.
